About Maria

Maria Fernanda Hernandez brings to Liberation Law Group a strong background in social research and public policy focused on equity and human rights. She was part of the consulting team at the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO-CR) on the gender equality policy project of the Instituto Nacional de las Mujeres (INAMU), associated with the new Policy Against Violence Toward Women.

Her most recent academic work includes research on how the media treats Nicaraguan immigrants in Costa Rica, and an in-depth analysis of the roots of discrimination and xenophobia in Costa Rica from a Political Communication perspective. This experience gives her a particular understanding of how discrimination is articulated in public discourse — knowledge directly applicable to the workplace discrimination cases Liberation Law Group handles.

At Liberation Law Group, Maria combines this academic perspective with the daily work of legal support, ensuring that every case — especially those involving national origin or gender discrimination — receives the rigorous attention it deserves.
