María Fernanda joined Liberation Law Group, P.C in July 2020. María Fernanda from adolescence had the opportunity to work in community projects with populations in greater socioeconomic vulnerability, which allowed her to develop a high commitment to justice and equity. She has volunteered in activities to help and empower immigrants and asylum seekers in Costa Rica. In activities such as job fairs and ventures or entrepreneurship, under the auspices of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
She was part of the consulting team of the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO-CR) in the project on gender equality policies of the Instituto Nacional de la Mujer (INAMU), associated with the new Policy on Violence Against Women.
She recently carried out an investigation about the treatment that the media gives to Nicaraguan immigrants in Costa Rica. Research about discrimination and xenophobic roots in Costa Rica in Political Communication.
María Fernanda has a degree in International Relations from Universidad Internacional de las Américas (UIA) and a degree in Political Communication from FLACSO-CR. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the guitar, reading, and sharing with her family.
